The first step in planning your VBS is setting the dates. Then use this planning guide to keep your VBS on track and chugging ahead.
Six Months Before VBS
§ Enlist a VBS Director – maybe even two!
§ Form committees for things like decorating, publicity, and supplies.
§ Set a budget and determine what (if any) fundraisers you can do.
Three Months Before VBS
§ Begin recruiting volunteers. (This will be an ongoing process!)
§ Order your curriculum and supplies such as crafts and student materials.
§ Plan and schedule a staff-training meeting.
Two Months Before VBS
§ Start publicity efforts. Create a buzz about your awesome program!
§ Begin gathering supplies.
§ Connect with your staff on any questions they might have.
One Month Before VBS
§ Begin pre-registration. Remember, you’ll have an easier time planning if you have an idea of how many kids will be there.
§ Hold a staff-training meeting.
§ Do a walk-through of your facility to plan where different events will take place.
