Summer Fun!
by Janie Gausmann

Looking for a little variety to keep your summer interesting and engaging?

Trying to find a way to get a much needed break during some of the most beautiful days of the year?

Want to attract visitors without overworking yourself and your staff?

Here are some ideas and links for you to bring a little diversity to your children's ministry this summer:

Summer Booking for Evangelists/Musicians/Special Events - Host your very own summer concert series in your local community and congregation!

Vacation Bible School Ideas and Links- Believe it or not this is not as obvious to many as it may seem! Statistics over many years have shown that one of the most positive (or negative) first impressions a church can make when it comes to attracting new families can be made at VBS. Think of VBS not as a summer time tradition: Think of it as a necessary outreach ministry to children adn their families. After all that is how MY family came to know Christ: Someone took me to VBS!

Start up Summer Recreation and youth sports leagues.- GOOD GRIEF is this an obvious one, but somehow we miss the boat so many times on this! Think of how many kids are enrolled in soccer, baseball/teeball, cheerleading, you name it, we put our kids in it... It keeps them active and gives them so many valuable lessons, but as Children's Ministry leaders and volunteers we miss the oppurtiny for a great outreach to our community and our church. Imagine if all the kids in your church and the churches around you became involved in sports leagues: Think the impact it could have on not only childern and adults. Think of all of the "adult" probelms that surround children's sports teams today: Think of the positive impact this could have and ask yourself "WHY NOT?" This could be one of the biggest neglects of Christian Influence, and one of the most powerful changes any church could make.

Summer Camp- One of the most pwerful ways to effect kids for Christ is Camp; This article from a previous newsletter may give you some encouragement.
